Content Management System Design

Challenge:
Autodesk’s internal research team faced significant inefficiencies in managing content for research publications, product updates, and team newsletters. The existing system was outdated and manual, resulting in a slow workflow and lack of consistency in content submissions.

Approach:
To address these issues, I led the design and implementation of a new content management system (CMS) using Airtable, which included several complex automations to streamline the process. My approach involved:

  • Collaborating with key stakeholders across teams to identify specific content needs and pain points.

  • Building a custom Airtable database with fields for categorization, metadata, and project timelines.

  • Designing automated workflows to simplify content submission, review, and approval processes, reducing the need for manual intervention.

  • Developing training materials to ensure teams were equipped to use the new system effectively.

Outcome:

  • The new CMS significantly improved the volume and quality of content submissions from the entire Research organization.

  • Content production became more consistent and organized, leading to improved collaboration across departments and faster turnaround times for content.

  • Teams reported an easier, more efficient workflow, with fewer errors and delays.

Skills Used:

  • Content management system design & development

  • Airtable & automation implementation

  • Cross-functional collaboration & process optimization

  • Training materials creation & user support
